Lady of the Month!

Well it's that time again, a monthly lady done in traditional fashion, I wanted to go a little more angular and hard with my line-work this time around. This time I also included the original line. Enjoy!

New Sketchbook!

Hello, my name is Christopher Vear, and I'm an addict... I have more moleskine notebooks sitting around my room than I can count, and no two are of the same type... nevertheless, I just bought a new one and with the joy of procuring a new sketchbook, I filled the first several pages in one night, this spread is my favorite of them, more scans in this style will follow, inspired mostly by Diburros. That's all for now, but expect more soon! ...I hope. :)

Nouveau

I adore my girlfriend, and I wanted to find a way to tell her so... combining my love of Art Nouveau with her image I came up with this.... hope she likes it :)

A Day in the Life of a Vear

Here's a little sequence of quick sketches I did in my sketchbook of what it's like for me living with my hair throughout any given day... note the inexplicable discrepancies in time and a lack of pattern therein.

Post-Its

some moar post-its...

Woman of the Month!

Everyone seems to do some kind of... serial art piece, so I figured I'd hop on the bandwagon and do a monthly traditional lady of some kind or sorts... So what did I think about during the cold, wet, and dismal month of February to lift my spirits... well apart from the one special lady in my life ;) I relied on daydreams of a freaky black lady spiritualizing coffee to get me through. well here it is. Enjoy, dear readers.

Portfolio Time!

That's right true believers... I've finally updated my portfolio, it was really a matter of just being not-lazy for a day and a half, spending ninety bucks on ink and printing paper, and implementing the portfolio page design into an InDesign file. Well it took a job interview to get me motivated but I went into it proud and ready! wish me luck, if you wish to see my new flatbook, check my website www.chrisvear.com

Mecha Venus

I drew the original image for this one almost two years ago, and have wanted to paint it ever since. I just never got around to it. A few weeks ago I started to work on it in Photoshop, and rather slowly (due to freelance jobs picking up speed), I've finally finished the damn thing! I have a few other sketches similar to it, I went through a phase where I liked the idea of coupling the soft aesthetic of the female form with the cold and sharp appearance of mechanical... stuff. And here we are....

Merry Christmas 2007

Well, another Christmas has come and gone, and I spammed a massive Christmas E-Card out to all of my friends and family. This card was special however in that it employed the style and technique of my very good friend: Steph Laberis. When we both worked at Leap Frog we had both started experimenting with putting scanned textures in our digital artwork, mostly various papers. and over time, she developed a very intricate paper cut-out technique (exemplified by this awesome tutorial) which I've been dying to try out for months and months. And here it is by all means a massive hat-tipping to her and her artistic bad-assery.... My Xmas Card for this past year.
